Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!

We spent the most glorious family weekend at The Beachcroft Hotel in Felpham Village, West Sussex recently and I just had to tell you all about it!

We were invited to spend a weekend in the incredible Penthouse suite which had panoramic sea views, two bedrooms and a huge amount of modern family living space with a large safe balcony too. (It also had an adjoining suite with connecting door just perfect for Nana to join us – yay!) All together we had two bathrooms, two kings, and one twin room and just popped Rory in a travel cot, in with us which worked a charm.

There were SO many thoughtful touches in the rooms…bespoke hotel colouring, buckets and spades on their beds, vouchers to a local ice cream parlour, hotel rock and the kids absolutely loved discovering it all. I don’t know about you, but these are the things that really make an experience memorable for me and are the things that the kids talk about again and again…

We had piled the kids into the car after school on the Friday and had a clear run all the way, driving straight into the sunshine and arriving in time for a meal at the more relaxed beach-side bar. Box meals were the order of the day (Fish & Chips, Goujons or Hallumi Salads etc) enjoyed in the bars dining pod – the perfect wind break and toddler enclosure! So lovely not to have to use the more formal restaurant all the time, and have the kids free to roam the beach whilst we ordered and got settled. I’ll be honest and say dining out with my three is rarely an enjoyable experience (sorry kids!) but this was about as good as it gets with a 1, 4 and 7 year old in tow.

Shiny happy face!

We spent our first day at nearby Littlehampton, basing ourselves at The Beach Company for the morning to enjoy a family paddle boarding session (with super Nana watching the napping baby on the decked cafe area) with the water sports guys at Loop Water Sports. Honestly it was AMAZING. (And not just because I was better than my husband hahaha.) The kids sat on the front of our boards whilst we got to grips with it but it was minutes before the amazing instructor Liam was playing games with Alfie, getting him to run over the boards and leap off into the sea to keep him entertained. Evie was more than happy being paddled about until Daddy knocked her off into the sea and she literally still hasn’t forgiven him and tells everyone we meet. Desperate to get some SUP action in this summer and try the SUP yoga too- that is 100% a bit of me! Delicious pizzas to refuel afterwards too which was super easy and much needed for the whole gang.

What’s a day at the seaside without a trip to the fair right, so after our action-packed morning it was off the Harbour Park (just a short walk along the beach) for an afternoon of waltzers, log flumes and copious amounts of sugar. All the seaside classics and not too expensive with a wristband option for unlimited rides.

After a bit of quiet time back in the hotel room (CBeebies, natch) we headed down to the hotel restaurant, Tamarisk, for an incredible meal. It was Nana to the rescue here as 3 tired kids plus 3 courses was always going to be a big ask for my gang, but she had a handbag full of tricks and between that and the incredible service from the staff (and a few deep breaths all round!) we got through it pretty much unscathed. The food was absolutely delicious, really generous portions and had fab options for the kids too. The staff brought out immediate bread at dinner, immediate toast and cereals at breakfast, had our highchair ready, gave us lots of friendly and reassuring smiles – they just GOT IT.

We spent the rest of the weekend using the hotel’s family pool (booked in slots to be Covid-secure), played on the beach and visited the ice cream parlour. it was action-packed, full of fun, sun – and of course the usual parenting involved in any family trip. The kids ADORED it, especially after a year of no trips or overnight stays, and the hotel was the perfect base for it. They also do bike hire which we would have loved to have fit in…next time for sure. I just have to give a little shout out to Pinks Ice Cream Parlour for the most incredible ice creams and waffles – they even pop teeny cones onto the side of their lattes as standard…I mean come on!!!

Cost-wise its going to be more than a self-catered place of course, but taking the location, standard and facilities on offer into consideration, I wouldn’t hesitate to book it again for a special weekend or birthday treat maybe. The hotel also has a few high-end converted beach huts for rental too which looked gorgeous. We will definitely be back – there were SO many things for families to do in the area and I feel like we barely scratched the surface – the whole beach vibe is very much our scene!

Sending a massive thank you to the Beachcroft and Carla Judge Hotel Consultancy for hosting us – we are so grateful for the time together and the magical memories you helped us create for our family. xxx
